May Letter from Rubina Martini

Hello Nelsonville Community!

For those of you just meeting me, I am Rubina, your new President of the Village of Nelsonville. It has been a good start to the new term. These first few months I am trying to catch up with each committee and any community members wanting to connect. 

I have joined the Parks Commission. The Parks Commission is collecting donations through the Community Foundation. We received a $25,000 donation bringing the fund to approximately $75,000. You can make donations of any size here:

Paula Kramer has joined our water committee and their next meeting is Friday May 23rd at 6pm. The water results from WEAL can be found here:

Take advantage of our brush removal site in the Village of Amherst at the Wastewater Treatment Center (260 Prairieview St, Amherst, WI 54406). We would love to have a few buckthorn removal workdays in the Sanctuary. Comment or reach out if you are interested in joining the effort.  Central Sands Community High School recently came out and widened a part of a path by cutting back invasives as part of their service hours. 

This is the warmest May I’ve experienced in the decade I’ve lived in Central Wisconsin! We are so fortunate to have the Nelsonville Sanctuary; be sure to get out and walk the trails.
